First Federal Bank Awards Six Outstanding Community Leaders 

Defiance, OH – First Federal Bank has awarded six individuals for their significant contribution to bettering the Hudson community. Hazel Monahan, Barb Ireland, Bev Faulk, Steve Harstel, Cindy Godfrey and David Sheely were presented with Outstanding Community Leader awards at the First Federal Bank branch in Hudson on May 15th by Jolene Myers, Financial Sales Manager for First Federal Bank.  

“We are so proud to recognize these individuals for the inaugural year of the Outstanding Community Leader award,” said Myers. “As a community bank, we aim to build partnerships with leaders in our communities to make the place we work and live better together.” 

The following local individuals were recognized for their standout performance and commitment to making Hudson, Michigan, a great place to work and live:

Hazel Monahan was recognized for the creation and continued operation of the Hudson Museum where she continues to serve as a volunteer. 

Barb Ireland and Bev Faulk were recognized for their efforts to keep ownership and content local for the Hudson Post-Gazette. 

Cmdr. Steve Hartsel was recognized for his achievement of obtaining a $5.2 million grant to improve Hudson's water supply and water waste system.

Cindy Godfrey was recognized for the implementation of the 'Leader in Me' program at Lincoln Elementary. ‘Leader in Me’ is a school improvement model, which provides students the leadership and life-skills necessary to be successful. 

David Sheely was recognized for his contributions to bringing Music in the Park to the Hudson Community. 

In addition to the awards, First Federal Bank held a drawing for the winners to select a charity of their choice to receive a donation. Hazel Monahan selected Sacred Heart to receive $50.00 and Barb Ireland selected YASP to receive $100.00.
